Iron Leaf Bed

Iron Leaf Bed
This charming European styled bed reminds me an awful lot of the beds in the guest rooms of my grandmother’s home in Mexico.  I remember the cold feel of the metal headboard and pretty floral designs. The
Iron Leaf Bed by Posh Living has delicate iron lattice work that is embellished with metal leaves and ivy.  Headboards should always have a feeling of stability, it should anchor your bed, it’s a feng shui thing.

Chateaux de Reves

Chateaux de Reves exterior symmetrical

While focusing on architect John C. Henry, I stumbled graciously upon Chateaux de Reves, a phenomenal French Renaissance Manor style mansion. I love the symmetry of the entry, the carved stone, generously sized arches, and the mirrored-shape arched windows.  The two towering white columns with Corinthian pilasters that support the covered entry and the oversized key stone set a tone of formality and traditional design.  Looking through John Henry’s portfolio, evident characteristics of his designs are detail, period accuracy and DETAIL.  He gets it right every time.

Roof Top Dining –Bangkok

vertigo bar and grill roof top

Writers imagine, dream and create fantastic stories riddled with so much imagery that you can almost taste, feel, breathe the atmosphere they have built.  Designers?-We are a blessed sort since we can actually build a tactile creation of our imagination, inspiration and collaboration and present it. The Vertigo Grill & Moon Bar is a fabulous example of a surreal creation where you can dine 61 floors above the busy streets of bustling Bangkok.  The rooftop stunner is sophisticated and brilliantly luminous, definitely a must see next time you are in this gorgeous city.

Burj al-Arab Hotel

Burj al-Arab Hotel

The Burj al-Arab Hotel in Dubai is the world’s only 7-star hotel, it became the world’s tallest hotel in 1999 after 6 years of construction. The shape of the iconic building resembles the sail of a Dhow swollen with the warm breeze drifting to shore from the Arabian Gulf.

Smoke Chair

Smoke Chair by Maartin Baas

Black on white is great, but black on black, well that is just divine! The Smoke Chair by Maartin Baas is constructed of burnt wood, epoxy, leather, and pure style.  The deep black matte finish of the leather and wood finish is a sleek look, this is clearly the chair placed by the fire, the one you sit on while reading Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Raven”.  Can you smell the vanilla scent of a pipe smoking in the background? The masculine and dark presence of the black tone is balanced by the feminine curves and tapering legs, the lady is a vamp.  The Smoke chair would also be a fantastic choice to place at the end of a long dining room table, complemented of course by the Smoking Dining Chair.

Outdoor Lighting

Luau Portable Lantern

If you are like me and light candles constantly, than you appreciate the necessity of luminaries for your outdoor spaces.  The Luau Portable Lamp is lit by a 50W equivalent LED that can last 6-10 hours once charged.  It can be lit while on it’s charger and it lights up automatically when lifted from the base.  This would be perfect for a stroll down to the lake front in the late hours.

Simms Family Portrait; Part II

Simms Family Portrait with Artist Eva Robertson

This past weekend was a blast, the art tour went very well, but I do have to say it was exhausting.  All the prep work and hours did make a difference though, and it was lovely to have so many visitors and fellow artists and art enthusiasts through my studio.  Thank you to all who came to support the local artists! I did paint during the show, my work in progress was the “Simms Family Portrait”, which is coming along swimmingly and I think I am almost half done! Here I am in my little set up for the weekend painting my heart out.

Capiz Drop Chandelier

capiz drop chandelier

The semi translucent capiz shells are illuminated from within by central bulbs. The large chandelier would be perfect for a sun bleached Caribbean getaway house that is larger than life. The feminine lines and delicate shape of the Capiz Drop Chandelier suits the characteristics of the capiz shells it is adorned with.  If you wanted to add formality to a fixed kitchen island, this fixture would be a wonderful touch draped over your slabs of carrera marble. Oh my, why not have it installed over your soaker tub, you know you want to.

Zuber Woodblocked Wallpaper

Zuber Woodblocked Wallpaper

Since 1797, Zuber, in France has been producing woodblock printed wallpapers using original XVII and XIX Century engraved woodblocks (they have more than 100,000).  Zuber Wallpaper is handmade and has such classic appeal. They have an archive of 130,000 different papers, each phenomenal and one of a kind. The #40049 large damask print my favorite graphic.  You don’t need to travel to Paris to visit the showrooms, (they have two locations in the United States) however, you have to admit that it would be a nice trip.
