There is a great trend towards diagonal bookshelves. Kelly Wearstler designed this built-in beauty in Viceroy in Santa Monica. Simple lines on a diagonal pattern create visual movement and a bold dark color puncuates this book case.

Bar Marfil in hotel Mur Muri has this lovely feature wall with diagonal bookcase designed by designer Kelly Hoppen.

This residential diagonal bookcase is a custom built-in unit where the homeowner can artfully display his beloved hardcovers and paperbacks. The trend is growing too, I have noticed this style of bookshelves in retail locations and even television show sets like Moonlight. A very fun way to store your books!

Are you are fortunate enough to have a room (two stories or not) to devote to hard covers and classics stacked to the ceiling? If so, you might like to invest in a rolling ladder like the No. 1 Rolling Ladder by Putnam. This fabulous library by Gluckstein Design is not at all stuffy and dark, but so rich and inviting; all due to subtle lighting and well selected finishes. Another score for the Gluck! |

As much of interest to mathematicians as it is to artists, as relevant to physics as to architecture; symmetry underlies almost every aspect of nature and our experience of the world. Illustrated with old engravings and original work by the author, this book moves from church windows and mirror reflections to the deepest ideas of hidden symmetries in physics and geometry, music and the arts, left- and right-handedness.
Symmetry: The Ordering Principle (Wooden Books)
is written by David Wade. Was $12. Now $9.60. |

The Cave Bookshelf by Sakura Adachi is an amazing and fun design for any bookworm. Aptly named, the reader may read surrounded and enclosed by his/ or her beloved books in the cavernous cushioned “chair”. It may also serve as a partition since books can be stored on either side. Another fun bookshelf that lends a comfy ready spot is the U-Turn Bookshelf. The cushion is synthetic leather, and nine storage blocks provide ample room for books. |

This jumbo sized book entitled “Albertus Seba's Cabinet of Natural Curiosities (Jumbo) ” is comprised of wonderfully colored commissioned illustrations of Albertus Seba’s unprecedented collection. His strange and exotic collection included everything from plants to snakes, frogs, crocodiles, shellfish, corals, insects, butterflies and more, as well as fantastic beasts, such as a hydra and a dragon. Some of the featured creatures have since become extinct, making this 18th century book one of the most prized natural history books of all time. Creativity can be stimulated by nature, and my, is this book inspiring! Was $200 Now $126 |
