Wall Stickers are getting a lot of love lately. They are showing up everywhere from retail stores, to residential spaces. Whether you keep them forever or opt for temporary flare, they really spice up the spaces they are in. Wall decals were featured in the design of the living quarters for NBC’s The Apprentice. Here is the Flock design in silver on a sumptuous plum painted wall.
Since 1797, Zuber, in France has been producing woodblock printed wallpapers using original XVII and XIX Century engraved woodblocks (they have more than 100,000). Zuber Wallpaper is handmade and has such classic appeal. They have an archive of 130,000 different papers, each phenomenal and one of a kind. The #40049 large damask print my favorite graphic. You don’t need to travel to Paris to visit the showrooms, (they have two locations in the United States) however, you have to admit that it would be a nice trip.
Blue is a such a relaxing color, especially a pale violet-hued blue like this large Indian-paisley wallpaper by Cole & Son. So how perfect is this color in a peaceful bedroom like this?! The Malabar wallpaper collection has a wonderfully detailed pattern. The blue and lavender tones are emphasized with silvery blue Indian silk curtains and a custom headboard upholstered with blue fabric and white piping. The wallpaper was carried over to the ensuite, and I do love that it is only carried from the wainscoting and up, the white paint and plumbing fixtures give this bathroom a clean fresh look. This soft-on-the-eyes feature is from the April 2006 Style at Home.
As deep and alluring black paint can be, here is a fun spin on chalkboard paint. Now turn any paintable surface into a chalk-ready artwork waiting to happen on your choice of ten different colors. Tilano Chalkboard paint comes in fun colors like Oh la la red, and Perfectly pear is a classic. You can use this paint as a witty backsplash in your kitchen, hey, you can write on it, so why not?! Or use it in a child’s bedroom under a chair rail, the possibilities are endless. Tilano even has their own special Chalkstix for applying your message or sketch.
Can you think of a more sumptuous wall covering than a crocodile patterned wall covering in chocolate cognac? The super trendy and fabulous pattern that is crocodile graces this bedroom in a predatorily dominant way, what a punchy texture! Since the embossed vinyl pattern is smaller, it does camouflage in the room nicely, adding a subtle city vibe. The tumbled polyurethane produces great depth and reality, it can be used for wallcoverings or as upholstery, it is also fire rated and 54″ wide. If you like the look of Crocodile, check out Torley’s embossed leather floor tiles!
What Italian masterpiece would you choose to adorn your walls if you had an extra large sum of money burning a hole in your pocket? A sculpture by Donatello? Pages from the journals of Leonardo da Vinci? Not if you are Richard Moriarty who is known for his irreverent taste. Mr. Moriarty bolted a 1974 Lamborghini to the wall of his Newport Beach estate in California. The exotic car will seem to be suspended over a glass staircase leading to his wine cellar. Apparently the upkeep for this particular car was frustrating enough that this seemed to be the best way to enjoy it. And it really is great eye-candy, wherever it’s parked.
Your choice of art speaks volumes about your personality, now you can frame your inner beauty with a DNA Portrait of your very own DNA! My sister has her PhD in Molecular Biology and I know she would be excited about this, she could probably even make her own, the smarty pants. Simply order the DNA Collection Kit to provide them with a saliva sample, send it back and wait a couple of weeks for this fabulous artwork featuring your very own genetic map.
Here is a great idea to add depth and visual interest in a room, mirrors! Large sheets of mirror adhered to wall is an easy and effective wall covering. Be sure to get your installer or manufacturer to polish the edges of any outside corners, and use a special mirror adhesive. If you have a notch-out in your wall, don’t see it as a reason not to use this style application, but embrace the rooms’ architecture and mirror them as a feature as well. Try not to go too overboard and mirror too much, it might end up looking like the Mirrored Room by Lucas Samaras.
Disguised in this gorgeous Rococo damask wallpaper by Paul Loebach is Americana at its finest; plumes from an oil rig, football helmets, cowboys on horses and a trail of smoke from his gun blazen this wallpaper as one of my my favorites! -The best color? That would be the red on red “Blood Brothers” #SPW-W1043-01. In honor of SuperBowl Sunday: Patriots, this one’s for you!
I love damask, and black and white, so this wallpaper has got my attention. The wallpaper graphic is a large pattern and has a pattern repeat of 27”, which means it would make a big statement on your wall. What statement you ask, well, something on the line of “Yes, thank you, I do have GREAT taste”. Outspoken? –No, just bold and fabulous. Style: BC1581410 by Design by Color.
