Sky Factory

sky factory

The illusion of a serene sky-scape overhead is a wonderful touch to confined areas where true natural light is not possible.  The illuminated translucent images from Sky Factory are used in hospitality, commercial and healthcare applications, where they can bring healing and openness to a sterile and often cold environment. It was really encouraging to read about the soothing effect that the SkyCeilings had on patients at Emerson Hospital’s Bethke Cancer Center in Concord, Massachusetts; I know firsthand that when you or a family member is facing difficult health treatments, healing environments can be comforting.  What an innovative product!

The Onyx Lounge

 onyx lounge

I have had a penchant for black onyx since Adam bought me a beautiful diamond and onyx watch for my birthday.  Something about that smooth precious black is so striking and luxe. The Onyx Lounge in San Francisco’s St. Francis Hotel is aptly named, and was designed by Barbara Barry.  Mirroring the exterior; the tall black marbled columns are topped with ivory Corinthian pilasters and flank the tall windows which draw your eyes up to the thick medallion studded ceiling. A pearl faced clock slung from the ceiling hangs like a heavy pendant on an elegant necklace.  It is the contrast that is so smashing, and has been achieved in a truly lovely way.  This lounge is completely befitting for the historical and alluring St. Francis Hotel.

LaBulleKenzo Spa

la bulle kenzo spa in paris

LaBulleKenzo Spa in Paris is self described as an internal adventure.  An experience more intimate, more sensory and more emotional.  A suspended space, outside the time, where to wander, all the direction in awakening: to the hiding-place of subtle perfumes, of unexpected cares, of new sensations.  What a happy place!  The brilliant yellow interior of one of the spa’s inner rooms is so bright, it practically vibrates with energy.  Mosaic tiles and a mirror ball move little squares of light around the room enveloping the lucky visitor. Yellows are warm and inviting, what a perfect color choice for this boutique spa!

The g Hotel

the g Hotel Pink Salon by Treacy

The g, the flagship of the Monogram Hotel Group, is a smashing design that would delight any traveler.  Designed by Galway native and hat-designer extraordinaire, Philip Treacy; every room is an art show in true form.  The Pink Salon is what originally drew my attention; the hypnotizing vortex patterned carpet, the hot-bikini pink on the walls, and the Andy Warhol-print chairs.  As hot and flirty as the Pink Salon radiates, just see how cool and aloof the Grand Salon is….
