String Shade Chandelier blackThe glamorous contrast of black, silver leaf and crystal is fantastic. Horchow never disappoints when it comes to lighting up your world.  I have seen this type of fixture with black sheer fabric which offers a more opaque view, but the black string lamp shade is a little more mysterious.  This fixture would be absolutely perfect in a master suite, or perhaps as a crown jewel in your private library?

Luau Portable Lantern

If you are like me and light candles constantly, than you appreciate the necessity of luminaries for your outdoor spaces.  The Luau Portable Lamp is lit by a 50W equivalent LED that can last 6-10 hours once charged.  It can be lit while on it's charger and it lights up automatically when lifted from the base.  This would be perfect for a stroll down to the lake front in the late hours.

Glass Lantern

The Pressick Lanterns by Pottery Barn come in two sizes and fun colors like sea-worthy blues, mossy green, clear and tangerine orange. The splashy colored glass protects the flame from being blown out by a breeze and creates a beautiful glow.  Set these lantern around your patio or hang them over a table for a late night chat with the girls.

Citronella tealights

Another summer necessity are citronella candles, they work wonders keeping pesky mosquitoes at bay and they have a lemony natural fragrance. I found packages of citronella tea lights at Zehrs grocers last summer and I am keeping stocked up on these babies. You can get 50 tea lights for $7.98 (Canadian), so I will usually fill as many cut glass candle holders as I can find and place them around my deck. Lighting is everything.

Capiz Drop ChandelierThe feminine lines and delicate shape of the Capiz Drop Chandelier suits the characteristics of the capiz shells it is adorned with.  It uses four bulbs, so it is very luminous since the shells have a slight opaque quality that would allow a lot of light transfer. I love how pretty this light fixture really is! At 51" high, it would be a true stunner over a dining room table or foyer entry.  If you wanted to add formality to a fixed kitchen island, this fixture would be a wonderful touch draped over your slabs of carrera marble. Oh my, why not have it installed over your soaker tub, you know you want to.

Fortuny lampI don’t believe I have seen this exact lighting fixture in an application I haven’t loved.  The Fortuny Ceiling Light is the gorgeous design by Mariano Fortuny y Madrazo, and it is available in a number of sizes, colors and patterns.  The larger sizes make the best statement and they never look out of place over a dining room table.  Sophistication, refined techniques, a high quality finish and attention to detail are the distinctive features of each original lamp.

The Fortuny lamps are available through Constantine and Lightology.

Shoal Light

Inspired by the sight of dense shoals of fish, Dominic Bromley has designed Shoal. Continuing in his sculptural work with fine bone china, his latest design takes full advantage of the diverse qualities of this beautiful ceramic material. A mass of bone china fish, each 16cm(19") long and carrying delicate sculpted detail, circle a central light creating a captivating cylindrical form. 40” high
