Writers imagine, dream and create fantastic stories riddled with so much imagery that you can almost taste, feel, breathe the atmosphere they have built. Designers?-We are a blessed sort since we can actually build a tactile creation of our imagination, inspiration and collaboration and present it.
The Vertigo Grill & Moon Bar is a fabulous example of a surreal creation where you can dine 61 floors above the busy streets of bustling Bangkok. The rooftop stunner is sophisticated and brilliantly luminous, definitely a must see next time you are in this gorgeous city. |

TheBurj al-Arab Hotel in Dubai is the world’s only 7-star hotel, it became the world’s tallest hotel in 1999 after 6 years of construction. The shape of the iconic building resembles the sail of a Dhow swollen with the warm breeze drifting to shore from the Arabian Gulf.

The interior of the Burj al-Arab is incredibly luxurious, only the very best materials were selected under the discerning eye of Khuan Chew; the Design Principal of KCA International. All of the suites have 2 levels, and they run about $28000 per night. This includes a chauffeur driven Rolls Royce, private reception desk on every floor, highly trained butlers, and even details like your choice from 13 different kinds of pillows, your stay is personalized for you. The opulence of each detail in the suites are matched only by accompanying technology like controlling the 42-inch plasma screens, to closing your curtains. Floor to ceiling windows offer breathtaking views.
The hotel offers in-house amenities like a tennis court helipad, spas, and 10 restaurants that treat the eye as well as the palette. The Al Mahara (The Oyster) is a restaurant centered around a large aquarium. The water-like iridescence of the light reflecting off of the selected finishes creates an underwater adventure. Who wouldn't love to spend a holiday in this hot spot?! |

The Vice-President and Chief Designer of the Versace Group; Donatella Versace, is moving her iconic Roman-esque and classic interior designs to the skies with her plans to design luxurious interiors to private jets. The somewhat minimalistic and streamline patterns of her Couture home products are mirrored in this simply fantastic jet interior. A status symbol isn’t whether or not you own a private jet, but who has designed yours?

The illusion of a serene sky-scape overhead is a wonderful touch to confined areas where true natural light is not possible. The illuminated translucent images from Sky Factory are used in hospitality, commercial and healthcare applications, where they can bring healing and openness to a sterile and often cold environment. It was really encouraging to read about the soothing effect that the SkyCeilings had on patients at Emerson Hospital's Bethke Cancer Center in Concord, Massachusetts; I know firsthand that when you or a family member is facing difficult health treatments, healing environments can be comforting. What an innovative product!

I have had a penchant for black onyx since Adam bought me a beautiful diamond and onyx watch for my birthday. Something about that smooth precious black is so striking and luxe. The Onyx Lounge in San Francisco’s St. Francis Hotel is aptly named, and was designed by Barbara Barry. Mirroring the exterior; the tall black marbled columns are topped with ivory Corinthian pilasters and flank the tall windows which draw your eyes up to the thick medallion studded ceiling. A pearl faced clock slung from the ceiling hangs like a heavy pendant on an elegant necklace. It is the contrast that is so smashing, and has been achieved in a truly lovely way. This lounge is completely befitting for the historical and alluring St. Francis Hotel. |
