POW! BOFF! BAM! No, you aren't reading onomatopoeia's from a Batman comic, but these would be the sounds of colour and pattern coming to life from an Amy Butler Rug. Each pattern of these hand-tufted rugs are bursting with vibrancy. Gone are the wash of blah blah neutral throw rugs, kick it up a notch and live alittle, and for goodness sake add some much needed colour in your life. Oh my, these rugs do get me going don't they? This hot number is called Caracas.

And here we have Coventry and Chrysanthemum respectively.

Lacework is a bit more subdued in pale tones like cornflower blue and lemongrass greens. This would be a cottage favorite, I could base the design of an entire summer house off this one!

This pretty bath is such a shining gem, it has struck a perfect balance with cool blue-grey hues of carrara marble, mosaic tiles, blushing corals and the warmth of polished brass as well.

Polished brass is an uncommon finish selection these days, as polished nickel and gleaming chrome are usually selected, but brass clearly wins in these images photographed by Martin Cederbald. This ultra feminine bath was designed by Eva Lindh.

Planning on going with a subway tile backsplash but want it to still look interesting? Think about adding the Heath Oval tile, visually it packs a punch while keeping somewhat traditional as a subway tile look. I thought these tiles looked familiar, they were featured in the newest Sex in the City movie, see blow:

The cobalt blue in these tiles match the long-awaited special order sofa Carrie had commissioned, and are they ever stylish! You can get them at Ann Sacks. |

Sotheby's is Cinderella Table by Dutch Design House Demakersvan is a genius masterpiece. The table is carved out of a solid piece of Carrara Marble.

When you see the front, you will notice the shape is acquired through morphing the silhouettes of an 18th century console juxtaposed with a bombe styled commode. Using modern technology, they were able to carve the unforgiving marble to this smooth curvilinear table.

The Cinderella Table is available through Sotheby's Sudeley Castle Selling Exhibition from May28- August 1 2010. |

Maax Collections has unveiled their new shower door systems, this one; the PurfectKurv dual door shower doors caught my eye. Not only because of the fantastic frameless look, but I am loving the beveled tile surround they are using in the marketing images!

The simple shape of the beveled square tiles are brought to life on a diagonal pattern, and the thick bevel contours on all sides make the finished look much like a tailored quilted leather application. The black only adds to the drama. This is a great lesson in wall tiles; when selecting tiles for a backsplash or wall, you can make a simple field tile seem much more visually appealing how the tiles are installed, simply turning them to a 45 degree angle. It can make a big difference, as in this case. |
